Before/After :: A Family Room Transformed

Our clients have a spacious family room and they enjoy spending time in it, but they turned to us to make some changes.  They wanted a more cohesive look, with a rug to pull the space together, and we are working with them to help them achieve their goal.  Here's a few pictures from the room when we first met them.

The first order of business for us was to move the furniture to other areas of the house, since it was all stuff they liked, just not in this room!  We cleared the area in front of the fireplace for traffic flow, and the homeowner hung up some treasured photos.  We moved the rug (not the correct size).  We worked together to come up with a new furniture plan, and it included an L-shaped sectional to play off of the room's shape, with a rug to help bring a fresh color scheme to the room.  Since the sectional was a square shape, we purchased a square ottoman to sit in front of it -- it offers storage/function and it's a great contrast with the sectional.

Still on the to-do list?  A slim console to slip behind the sectional (we'll put a pair of lamps on it), some modern side tables, and a new television console on the other side of the room.  We also intend to bring in a pair of slim bucket chairs to flank each side of the console on the "tv side" of the room.  They will balance the room's seating options, and can be easily moved around when the family entertains.
