DC Design House 2015 :: The Art!

We took a fun field trip last week to the DC Design House, which is always a great place to get inspiration and ideas.  Each designer is responsible for an area/room in the house, and the proceeds from ticket sales go to the Children's National Medical Center, here in DC.

This year, we were struck by the wonderful array of art :: traditional, modern, vintage.  In almost every space, the art delighted us!

This first grouping decorates the walls of the wood paneled library.

We moved to the stairway to ascend the stairs and were greeted by this beauty:

This is one of my favorites in the house.

As we reached the second floor, there is a large landing area with seating.  This wall leads the way to the bedrooms.  We like the entire grouping :: wallpaper, sconces, and these interesting ladies!

The nursery has a great concept for displaying treasured objects with this sweet sentiment as part of the grouping.

And this is my absolute favorite! Something about the colors and the immense scale of this in a bedroom really captured my attention.  Just gorgeous.

There are several groupings of photographs displayed on metal, something we'd never seen before.  It's a great concept and we liked the frameless mounts.

The colors in the large scale painting above are fantastic, especially with that wall color!

The smattering of cabbage plates with the trio of framed pieces juxtaposed against the classic wallpaper in the butler's pantry ... we loved it all!

We will be back with another post on Thursday about the other elements in the house (so much!), but we thought the variety of art really deserved our attention.  The Design House has now closed for the year, but they will have another one next spring.
