We were skeptical when we heard Ikea was discontinuing our beloved Expedit bookcases, and replacing them with the Kallax. However, now we are converts! It's the same look, virtually undetectable difference in the thickness of the perimeter, and still accepts the same size inserts/boxes/baskets. It uses less wood than the Expedit, and is less expensive! Win-win!
